Smith & Wesson Revolver mounts...one style for the original non-drilled and tapped revolvers, and one for the current drilled and tapped models(bottom of page)
AMS series for "non-drilled and tapped: This was our original mounting system from way back in the 80's with individual models designed specifically for each Smith & Wesson frame (K,L and N). These mounts are designed to drop down over the top of the revolver and attach by using two replacement side plate screws and a clamping device that grips the top strap of the revolvers. The iron sights are usable through a sight track and you can access the windage adjustment screw through a hole in the side of the mount.

"DOUBLE OPTION" mount series for drilled and tapped S&W's These are mount and rear sight combinations for the newer S&W revolvers
Smith & Wesson began drilling and tapping the top of their
revolvers under the rear sight assembly providing three very nice #6
threaded holes which allow attachment of a scope base. BUT...until
now it also meant that you had to give up your rear sight
capability.
Aimtech is the first to introduce a combination scope mount base and rear sight assembly to correct this anomaly.
The Double Option system comes with three mounting screws with which
to attach the mount to the revolver, and three interchangeable sight
blades in green,
red and black
for changing light situations. The mount is rugged and simple and
so is the sight. Simple set screw adjustments allow the shooter to
make coarse adjustments to the rear sight and allow him/her to make
an "iron sight" shot if need be. If you really want the best all
around mount for your S&W revolver, this is it
